As you can see, Johnny's life has undergone some noticeable changes in the past two years. His family's financial situation has definitely been affected and he has had to make adjustments.
Like many students, Johnny must now watch his spending and cut back on some luxuries such as clothes and entertainment. He now has to sacrifice his allowance and do his best to contribute to his family's income.
Johnny's predicted future has also changed a bit. This means that many Huskies with college aspirations certainly find paying for tuition to be an increased worry and may have to settle for different path then intended.
Those who don't plan to attend college will probably experience a greater need to find quick employment than they previously thought. It will be considerably more difficult than it was two years ago.
It is important to note that the economy hasn't hit rock bottom just yet; it will most likely get worse. That means we need to brace ourselves for what is to come in the next few years. The most critical thing is to be prepared.
There are too many of us who don't give enough thought to the future. Like it or not, the grim reality is right around the corner.
Question the future constantly. ″Where do I see myself in the next year?″ ″Can I afford to pay for tuition?″ ″Can I get a job and keep it?″ ″Will Mom and Dad be able to pull through for the family?″
Add to those questions some more regarding yourself and your actions. ″What can I do to contribute to my family's efforts?″ ″How should I prepare for the coming year?″ ″Am I ready to deal with possible employment?″
High school is the time for students to start the transformation into full-fledged adults and meet the problems of the real world. There is no better time to take actions than now.
The economic crisis will not fix itself; we need to accept the torch of responsibility and actively take the initiative to prepare for the storm.
